Tower of Googly

Tower of Googly was a game jam game for Ludum Dare 50 that we worked on for a weekend. After making it, we found it to be quite addicting once you get the hang of the controls.

After the game jam. We were approached by CrazyGames asking us if we'd be interested in adding our game to their website.

My Role

For this game I was a programmer and gameplay designer. I worked on the movement system and rigged the characters for the game.

WB_GameJam - Kylar's Scene - PC, Mac & Linux Standalone - Unity 2020.1.12f1 Personal_ _DX1

The way the game works is you would control the limbs of the characters with the mouse cursor and would climb upwards, freezing animals in place to create a tower that you would climb again from the bottom. You would continue to climb until you run out of time.

The characters are ragdolls that have force applied to the end of their limbs aiming at the direction of the mouse cursor. This created a problem where as long as you held the buttons the characters would begin to fly. We added a restriction that would prevent this by only applying force when the characters have one limb locked by grabbing something.

The game took under a month in total to complete. Most of the game was done by the end of the game jam, afterwards we spent additional time to polish the game's mechanics and fix remaining bugs. A portion of the time spent was our break before we got the message from CrazyGames asking if we would submit the game on their site.
